Onshore and Offshore wind farms are growing tremendously across the globe, expected to increase 25 times over the next 20 years.

Offshore wind farms are prefered, due to stronger and more stable winds, but are extremely expensive to maintain and repair with larger ones requiring special boats and crew while smaller ones require helicopters.

A typical farm of 20 wind turbines of 3MW individual capacity has in average 4 failures per years, each of those leading to up to 10 days of downtime for maintenance or repair. In, without proper monitoring and optimization the turbine efficiency can be as low as 75% of their operating point.
